Advantages of graphite carburizer:
Graphite carburizing agent improves the metallographic structure of castings and has higher mechanical properties, which can better meet the production process requirements;
Graphite carburizer can help generate graphite core and prevent cast iron from overcooling and whitening;
The use of graphite carburizing agent with moderate particle size can also effectively shorten the carburizing time and improve the carburizing effect;
Graphite carburizing agent can also reduce the amount of pig iron added, increase the amount of scrap steel added, rationally utilize resources, and reduce production costs.
Points to note when using graphite carburizer:
The particle size of the graphite carburizer is the main factor that affects the melting of the carburizer into the molten iron. Although the carburization rate after 15 minutes is the same, the carburization time of the graphite carburizer that reaches 90% is very different. It takes 13 minutes to remove the graphite carburizer after particle size treatment, 8 minutes to remove the fine powdered graphite carburizer, and only 6 minutes to remove the fine powder and coarse grained graphite carburizer. This shows that the particle size of the graphite carburizer has an impact on the carburizing time. For a greater impact, it is not good to mix fine powder and coarse particles, especially when the content of fine powder is high.
If you want to use carburizing agent well in casting, you should first choose the type of carburizing agent, because different carburizing agents are often suitable for different smelting furnaces. Before purchasing carburizing agent, you must fully understand what kind of carburizing agent you use in your furnace. For various types of carburizers, attention should be paid to the adding time of graphite carburizers during casting. Generally, they can be added in the early, middle, and late stages of casting. They can also be added at the same time as scrap steel. Adding them in the later stages can also serve as pretreatment. The function can increase the graphite core!
Under normal circumstances, graphite carburizers with low nitrogen content should be selected during casting, which will minimize harmful substances. The titanium content in the molten iron is very low and will not consume a lot of nitrogen. This will easily lead to increased nitrogen content. A large number of pores, air shrinkage and other defects appear.
